Did some freelance work at radical media for a television documentary called “Two Roads to Baja”. It was about the Baja 1000 in Mexico. They didn’t want the typical affair between racing and design where people marriage rock and roll dirt and grit design with footage and instead wanted a clean “over the border” look while still retaining a professional and readable interface. We designed legible lower-thirds with quick animations to retain the ‘racing’ feel. I designed a custom logo using a mixture of multiple typefaces to give them a bold, gritty yet simple title design to promote the feel of the Baja 1000 race itself. The logo was used for the title sequence and the packaging for the DVD. Below are some example sketches made for some other directions I tried out.

Just a promo poster for my “Down on the Farm” short narrative piece.

This would be cool. Just a shirt with Dorothy (from the film) promoting the good word. The outside tag would read “You can kiss Kansas Goodbye” or “This ain’t no Oz”.

For one of my favorite bands The Mars Volta. Maybe later I will touch it up and attempt to solicit the wares to the band. Any fans who want to purchase just ask. I will even SIGN THEM for free!

Themed poster for my upcoming narrative project entitled “Cygnus Cried Cygni”. A quick narrative about an unexpected hero named Cygni. Most of the story takes place in an ancient civilization within celestial bodies of fantastic nature. Think Silver Surfer on LSD.

Print features a lined illustration of Jim Morrison’s head with type referencing various nicknames he held. The band name actually refers to the Door’s song “Bird of Prey”.

Just trying out various ideas for the creation of a magazine cover. Just a test using color and shape to achieve a dynamic sense with relation to a photo. This piece would be if VZLZ was a magazine for graphic arts and fashion (hence the use of my VZLZ logo spread throughout).

“Evil farmer. Farmin’ away. Hoein’ it up. Audience has no idea what it is hes farming until the end. A girl on the farm provides a background to the farmer and as she overlooks his activity. Youth and edgey style while retaining a bold and robust color usage. Visual treatment like Sin City (the movie) occasional boldly colored scenes.”

A personal print piece that illustrates the chaos and structure behind alcoholism. Beauty and destruction in one archetype. In this case, my birthdate is used as the starting point for this character’s struggle incapulated within a Hollywood-esque film propaganda print.
